The parking structure is underground. There are 2 sides to the building, the hotel side and the work-space side. The hotel side has 3 elevators. 2 elevators get you to the 30th floor where the reception desk is located, however, 1 of those elevators get you to the parking area (so if you come down the left elevator and need to down to the parking area, you need to exit the elevator on the 1st floor, select the down button and enter the elevator on the right). Once you reach the 30th floor and check in, you have access to another elevator that is only accessible to hotel guests. That elevator takes you to either the 28th or 29th floor by access of your hotel room card. The 29th floor houses vending machines, a microwave, 2 washer/dryer combos and an ice machine, as well as, a public bath for men, a separate public bath for women that utilizes a separate key card for. The rooms was a small but decent size. The room lights for the entrance and room side are on the bedside table. There are 2 magnets on the backside of the door what you're supposed to put on the front side of the door if you want the cleaning staff to come in and throw the trash, change the towels, or both. We didn't realize those were magnets until day 4 as they look like they're fixed to the door. The restroom light is located outside of the bathroom door. The room does have blackout shades that you have to pull down which was great. The headboard has lights on both sides and outlets in them as well. The entire room has US style outlets and the bedside table has a charger that takes USB and wall plugs. The room does have a safe, a mini fridge, hangers and storage space (very minimal space), a tv, free Wi-Fi (the password is given at the reception desk). The movies on the tv are $1.00 each to rent and I believe you purchase that on the 29th floor in the vending machine area. The room did have a small chaise, house slippers and robes. The restroom was Western style but also had a bidet. The tub was a deep tub so those with knee or leg issues should be aware of this. I', 5'1" and my husband is 5'6" and we both almost tripped getting in/out of the tub after our showers. The showerhead is adjustable to child height or adult height. There is a red button on the temperature gauge that I didn't know was even a button until I said I missed my scolding hot showers. My husband figured it out for me. Push the red button down to move the temperature gauge to a hotter temperature. The bathroom is stocked with individually, prepackaged items including hair brushes, toothbrushes that came with small tubes of toothpaste (they taste like charcoal so please be advised before using it if you don't like the flavor of charcoal), razors with pre-packaged shaving cream, cotton swaps, and hair ties. If you do not utilize any of those amenities, there is 2 green wood tokens that you take with you to checkout which lets the staff know you didn't use any of those items which helps reduce waste and recyclables. The parking fee is 2,500 yen per 24 hours. You take your ticket with you to the counter before you leave the building. They ask for your room number, validate your parking and then when you're leaving the parking area, you put the parking ticket in the machine first then the validation ticket. Repeat the process every time you're going to leave the building with your vehicle and then you pay back the total cost at the end of your stay. We stayed for 5 days and paid a total of 12,500 yen which came out to $80.76 in addition to the hotel stay. The building is also attached to a mall/shopping center witha 24 hour Mcdonalds, other restaurants and stores in the shopping center/mall and throughout Tokyo open at 10 am. There is also a 24 hour 7-11 nearby. The mall area also has a taxi location, bus pick up/drop off, and train station for easy access to get where you need to go if you don't rent a car. Also, do not rent a car. Take the public transportation as there is no free public parking and all highways require tolls to be paid (always enter the ETC toll lanes that have ETC in a purple background with a / and green on the other side. We entered the wrong one and got stuck until someone came to help. Also, central Tokyo is about 30 minutes away from the hotel by car so plan accordingly.

Vegan food!

Hotels can spend a fortune on their location, building, luxury, service or brand image. But we chose the Tokyu Excel Hotel in Futako Tamagawa for one simple reason: the in-house restaurant has vegan options. That saves a lot of walks, endless searches and other frustrations. And to start of with the restaurant: they have 2 vegan options for lunch and dinner and both are excellent. The breakfast is a buffet, but there's no special care for vegans. So, how is the rest of the hotel? Well, the location of Futako Tamagawa is an upcoming classy neighborhood on the edge of Tokyo. The area around the station is modern, clean and very well organized. It's a nice place to hang out, walk and relax (or live!) The Excel Hotel is located on the top floors of the office building that is otherwise used by Rakuten (a big Japanese company). Reception is on the 30th floor, rooms on the 29th and 28th floor. Although there are only 2 floors for rooms, the building is huge so the hotel still has plenty of rooms. Since staying at the edge of Tokyo is much cheaper than staying in the heart of Tokyo, prices are also lower. So we could afford a gorgeous corner room with a fantastic view over the city (Tokyo, Kawasai and even Yokohama). The room itself is big, stylish and comfortable, with good beds. The bathroom is spacious and luxurious as well, with great views over the city if one elects to open the blinds while showering / bathing. One thing I didn't like: there is no desk in the room. When it was time to do some work, reception offered a tiny fold-able desk but it was kid size at best and therefore unusable. Working at the tables at the reception was not allowed as they were owned by the hotel, so I would have to order drinks at regular intervals. Working at the terras was also not allowed, because one needs a reservation (eventhough it was empty all the time). This pointless bureaucracy is typical for Japan, but still annoys me greatly. In the end I had to work on the bed, mouse on the pillow. Serious ache at the end. Not good. Would I recommend you to stay at the "Tokyu Excel Hotel" in Futako Tamagawa? Yes, but only for holiday not for work.

Great location, very poor service

I have stayed in this hotel four times this past year. I would not have stayed here even once if there were any other choices in Futakotamagawa. I gave 3 stars for location, convenient transport from Narita and Haneda, and the cleaning ladies. This hotel is not cheap, but their front desk service is poor by any standards and especially poor for Japan. They do not help with anything - even holding the elevator door open when you are clearly struggling with lots of luggage. For the price of the room, staff at every hotel that I have stayed in Europe or USA would offer to help carry big suitcases to your room. There is a middle aged male at the front desk who is absolutely rude and does not even smile or greet, let alone trying to help or respond courteously to inquiries such as if a better room is available. He got annoyed when I asked him about WiFi which is extremely poor at this hotel. I guess the front desk do not care about customer service because they will always have business from Rakuten. Or they clearly discriminate against foreigners. I can't wait for another hotel with better service to open up in the area.

This is a nice hotel, clean, modern and with very friendly and helpful staff. The service was excellent, breakfast very good. The rooms are very small which is usual in Tokyo. In this case there was no working area in the room. There was a place for 2 people max to work at in the lobby. The wifi was very good, but I don't think I would use this hotel for business again.
